Every parent is automatically a member of Danesfield School PTA
What we do and why
We organise fun activities and events for children, parents and for families to enjoy together, in order to raise money for the school. These would usually include hot dog lunches, cake sales, an Easter egg hunt, quiz night, ball, summer festival, Christmas fair and pantomime tickets.
Danesfield is one of the lowest funded schools in the country, and thus there is very little funding left after the school has paid for its teachers and staff and the building and site costs. So, the funds raised by parents are critically important to fund essential resources to support our children’s education.
What we have funded
Over the past few years the PTA has been able to make a real difference to the school. We have helped fund the science building, the lunch hall refurbishment, the astroturf, the outdoor classroom, new reading books, educational schemes such as Talk4Writing, teacher training, music equipment such as African drums, class refurbishments and IT equipment.
How we do it
Everything is done by parent volunteers. There isn’t one PTA team that organise everything, instead, Danesfield parents come forward to lead or support organising the activities. Let us know if you’d like to be involved or have any ideas – we’d love to hear from you!
A small group of people do the overall PTA administration. Let us know if you’d like to join. Details of the current committee members can be found on Classlist (see below)
Each class has a rep who helps communicate and gain support for PTA activities. They also organise social events and other class or year related activity. Please let us know if you’d be interested in being a class rep. To find your class rep, visit Classlist.
To ensure you don’t miss out on anything, please:
- Sign up to Classlist as it is one of the key ways the PTA will communicate what is going on
- Read the weekly round-up emails from the school – they are sent each Friday afternoon
Classlist is a private community for Danesfield parents.
All PTA communications are via Classlist. Parents can also use Classlist to keep in touch with other parents, ask questions and discuss school related topics.
The Classlist events section contains all the PTA events, and where applicable, tickets can be purchased from within Classlist. Parents can also organise events, whether it’s year group get togethers or private birthday parties. Classlist enables you to send invites and track responses.
In Classlist, you can look up parent contact information such as phone numbers and addresses. Parents can share as much as or as little contact information as they like. Classlist is a private and secure website and app; it is fully data protected and does not share contact details with third parties.
Finding PTA organisers and Class Reps
In the ‘School Profile’ section, you’ll find the PTA committee members and event organisers listed under ‘Ambassadors’ or ‘Community Reps’, and scroll further down to see the Class Admins (reps). Simply click on any name to message that person.
Help the PTA by shopping!
Raise money for the school every time you shop online at big retailers like John Lewis, Amazon and eBay. Sign up at easyfundraising.org.uk. Then, whenever you shop online, go to easyfundraising first and click on the retailer you want to shop with. You’ll then be taken to the retailer’s website where you shop as normal. But because you visited easyfundraising first, our school gets a donation.
